It may not matter in the the private sector but it is worth its weight in gold on both military contracts and civilian gov jobs. I started wondering why no one was doing the same amount of work as me. I will finish out my contract of course, for the people telling me to suck it up. I tried so hard to be a "stellar Airman" the first year - I volunteered for everything, I went above and beyond at my job, I burned through my CDC's...but all it did was tire me out while I received no recognition, and instead more responsibilities.
